DC planetary gear motors M77_PM81/LN
The planetary gear motors M77_P_81 consist in the DC brush motors diameter 77mm in the two configurations M77x40-H and M63x60-H, assembled with the planetary gearboxes PM81/LN.
This combination represents the maximal flexibility in terms of possible personalization and the family of DC brushed planetary gear motors with permanent magnets, which can work at operating torques up to 400Nm.
The electric DC motor has a stator which is built by a yoke and two flanges, one in the front side and one in the back, which allows to connect to the motor a special optical encoders or even a brake.
Furthermore the yoke allows changing, if needed, the motor length, maybe by creating magnets with a special length and so to adapt the DC electric brushed motor’s external dimension to the application needs.
The combination between DC brushed electric motors with permanent magnets diameter 77mm and the planetary gearboxes PM81/LN are the best solution to satisfy the frequent requests for the applications in which are requested working torques between 200Nm and 400Nm.
The big range of performances comes from the different possible lengths. In particular the version M77x60-H allows the highest stall toque values for this motor diameter.
The reached optimization of the electromechanical efficiency allowed reaching the highest values in term of working hours.
About the external dimensions, together with the possibility of adapting the motor length, it is also important to underline the cable exit.
Thanks to their flexible configuration the DC brush motors diameter 77mm allow to place the brushholder both in the front of the DC motor, close to the planetary gearbox or in the back side. This option allows the diameter 77 DC motors with planetary gearbox diameter 81mm to be assembled in a housing with internal diameter very close to the external diameter of the Planetary DC gear motor.
The connecting flange between motor and gearbox has been designed to minimize the motor length.
About the planetary gearbox PM81/LN it’s available for this size only the metal version, which can have gears with straight or screwed teeth.
In the first case, gears with straight teeth, the planetary gearbox is called simply PM81, in the second case, gears with screwed teeth, the planetary gearbox is called PM81LN, were the letters “LN” ( Low noise ) indicate the more silent version.
In the two technical datasheets M77x40-H_PM81LN and M77x60-H_PM81LN it is possible to see the most important technical data relative to the planetary gearbox in the different configurations with one, two, three stages (max continuous torque, axial and radial permitted loads, gearbox length and weight).

About the encoder every information and option to select and define it are illustrated through easy and clear pictures.
After having selected the encoder, if with one or two Hall sensors, appears a picture of the encoder circuit and a picture with the cable displacement in the DC planetary gear motor connector.
The second selection allow choose the number of ring magnet poles, which is also represented through simply and clear pictures, together with the relative output encoder signal.
Finally it is possible to combine the DC motor with permanent magnets characteristic curve and the planetary gearbox gear ratio simply by writing in the dedicated cells the following desired parameters values:
- DC motor No load RPM
- DC motor supply tension
- Planetary gear ratio
As soon as the curve is traced appears above the graph also the values of electric motor internal resistance and the value of torque constant Kt and it is possible to visualize for each curve point the values of torque, current consumption speed and efficiency.
